Christmas Meet Up — The Big Christmas Singalong!

What a fabulous Christmas meet up we had at The Brighton Dome.

In the spirit of this festive time of the year, Gig Buddies invited members to the Brighton Dome who presented a night full of our all-time favourite Christmas songs. It was great fun singing along, taking part in a room full of singers. The sound travelled beautifully around the room, with harmonics, depth, and emotion. We particularly loved getting involved with the twelve days of Christmas where the audience was asked to stand up to carry out the correct actions as we counted down to the pear tree.

Christmas Singalong at Brighton Dome

A series of musicians played who included The Choir with No Name Brighton with guest appearances from SK Shlomo, Sambaoke and Rock Choir.

The Choir with No Name Brighton invites people who are homeless and marginalised to sing every Monday at All Saints Church in Hove. The choir was full of brave soloists. It was great to see a supportive space where these people can use music as a therapeutic tool to help them to rebuild their life back again.

We saw SK Shlomo who was an impressive international beat boxer. His talenters gave the room a new sound dimension. He is known as a former World Looping Champion who has collaborated with Bjork, Ed Sheeran and Gorillaz, toured the world and performed on main stages at festivals like Glastonbury.

Sambaoke also joined the stage with their samba band! They gave the evening a strong beat as they accompanied the singers with their Rio carnival vibes.

Lastly, we saw Rock Choir who kicked us off for the night and got us all in the mood for a Christmas sing. Rock Choir is the pioneering contemporary choir of the UK and remains unique with over 33,000 members participating in approximately 400 local communities. It offers all ages an alternative experience to the traditional classical or community choir introducing members to feel-good pop, rock and contemporary chart songs.

The evening ticket sales went to an important cause. Donations and profits made by the tickets go to support The Choir with No Name Brighton, run in partnership with BHT Sussex.

We loved it so much! We hope to see you there next year.

Merry Christmas everyone and a Happy New Year.
